Skincare Essentials

I'm beginning to notice more and more wrinkles, you guys, and I'm not super thrilled about it. In the past, I've been super lazy about taking care of my skin, usually doing the nightly minimum of makeup remover wipes and slapping on some moisturizer. But as I approached my 32nd birthday last month (wait WHUT), I finally realized that I need to be more proactive about taking care of my face. Below are the products I've been using along with my reviews.

Caudalie Make-up Remover Cleansing Water - This does a good job of getting all my makeup off and is the only makeup remover I've tried that doesn't leave my skin super taut and dry (these wipes were the absolute worst). Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the Caudalie remover and will be repurchasing soon since I've almost finished it.

Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser - I like this cleanser because it tingles and makes my skin feel really clean. It claims to deep clean pores and it definitely works as my pores appear increasingly clearer and smaller in appearance. However, it is a bit drying, so I alternate it with the Embryolisse one below.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Moussant - I love this cleanser and have almost finished my bottle. It feels luxurious and rich on the skin, and does an excellent job of moisturizing. My combination/oily skin responds really well to the formula and I will be buying it again soon.

Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir - This serum has antioxidants, moisturizers, and glycolic acid that helps with exfoliation. It's a serum type formula that sinks into my skin super fast, but doesn't leave me greasy (something I watch out for with my skin type). I sometimes get kinda flaky on my nose, cheeks, and a little bit on my forehead, but when I use this consistently, those problems clear up nicely.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream - I have really enjoyed using this retinol wrinkle cream. It goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly, and I've noticed that it has helped with my baby crows feet and the little lines under my eyes and between my eyebrows. I've only been using it for a month or so, so I'm looking forward to seeing how those areas continue to improve.

L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur Eye Smoother - A dedicated eye product because I can't handle this eye wrinkle shiz, y'all. The formula is smooth and not greasy, and I notice that my undereyes do appear a bit smoother/brighter after applying. I also like that this one has a metal tip that soothes and helps to de-puff things a bit.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentrate - My ultimate moisturizer! The consistency is between a lotion and a cream, and it sinks into my skin beautifully. It's really hydrating, feels fancy (because French, duh) and I highly recommend trying it if you're looking for a moisturizer that doesn't leave you feeling greasy.

Overall, I'm pretty happy to have finally found a skincare regimen that helps my wacky skin and doesn't break me out or turn me into a greaseball or dry me out like I'm rocking my own personal face desert. Granted, sometimes I'm still lazy and just wash/moisturize, but I'm trying to make a conscious effort with the anti-aging stuff. It definitely helps to see results, so it's becoming easier!

Btw, I need some suggestions from my fellow combo/oily skin babes! I'm still looking for a good, super light daytime moisturizer with SPF that I can use in the morning, and possibly some sort of face mask or something that I can use weekly as a treat. Thanks in advance! :)

What's In My Bag

I've been using this tropical print crossbody bag from ASOS for most of the moving festivities throughout the past few weeks, and I thought today I would show you guys what I carry around in it.

Kate Spade wallet - Christmas pressie from the BF and I love it! It still looks new, even though it goes everywhere with me and gets tossed around more than its fair share.

Banana cozy - Because a girl's gotta eat and bananas are awesome. This handmade cutie from 9th & Elm offers just the right amount of cushion to keep my snack non-bruisey.

Sunnies - Classic RayBan Wayfarers, my go-to pair that y'all see me wear all the time. They have definitely been worth the investment!

Pen - Sometimes I have to write stuff, and when I do, this comes in handy. Also, I look like a hero if someone else needs to borrow a pen and I happen to have one to lend.

iPhone and leopard print case - I don't go anywhere without my phone, just like everyone else on the planet (that has one, anyway). My case is from 9th & Elm in my favorite print (yay leopard!), and I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

Glasses and case - You know, sometimes I go in stores or something and don't want to look silly by wearing my sunnies inside. I mean, I still wear my sunnies inside most of the time anyway because #yolo (haha, jk), but just in case I want to class things up a bit, I carry these regular specs too.

Assorted makeup-y/beauty things - F21 zippered pouch, leopard mirror, powder, travel kabuki brush thingie, lipstick, concealer, hand cream, travel perfume doodad, mini deodorant, hair ties and clips, etc = vanity. No shame.

Lip balms - And lots of them because I manage to misplace them even within such a small purse. I ordered three flavors from 9th & Elm (pomegranate berry, chocolate cake, and peppermint) and love them all. The chocolate cake one is especially delicious.

Thank you to 9th & Elm for letting me pick a few things from your site to review and carry around with me on the daily! I can't live without 'em. And if y'all are in need of cute handmade and independent designs to give as gifts or fun things to treat yoself a bit (because you deserve it, duh), definitely give 9th & Elm a look.
